Dartford Symphony Orchestra

The Dartford Symphony Orchestra has been rehearsing and performing in Dartford since 1946, and presently the age range of the members is from 16 to 80.  It is the orchestra's aim to provide an educational and stimulating environment in which all the players benefit, and to bring high-quality, polished performances of the world's greatest music to our audiences.

The result of the members' commitment is a regular season of symphony concerts promoted by the DSO which are well attended by audiences from Dartford and the surrounding area.  The DSO is the resident orchestra at the Mick Jagger Centre for the Performing Arts, Shepherds Lane, Dartford.  We rehearse there on  Friday evenings, and perform there regularly, although other venues include schools, churches and the Orchard Theatre.

Former conductors of the orchestra include such well respected names as Harry Rabinowitz, Marcus Dods, Charles Farncombe,  and Maurice Miles.

The present Music Director is George Vass

Dartford Loves Ringtones

One of the biggest things on this side of the pond these days is ringtones for mobile phones. We are big fans of Nickelback's Far Away ringtone and also the spooky Halloween movie theme ringtone...there are so many to choose from. Most phones today support MP3 or polyphonic ringtones which means that they don't sound like Harry Rabinowitz put them together on his 1982 Casio keyboard. :) Ringtones are a lot of fun and something that Dartford is going to get behind whole heartedly.
